Developping new ways to limit PPV spreading
Universitatea de Stiinte Agronomice si Medicina Veterinara Bucuresti (USAMV Bucuresti), Romania is one of the most important institutes involved in Plum pox virus (PPV) investigations in Romania. USAMV is conducting activities in horticulture, genetics and plant breeding in Prunus. The overall mission of USAMV partner in SharCo is to develop new ways to limit PPV spreading. USAMV is currently coordinating a national project funded by the Romanian Research of Excellence Program, related to PPV studies.

    Program leader in the sharka team and is a specialised in plant cellular and molecular biology techniques (owned a Marie Curie individual fellowship at INRA Bordeaux), leader of the research Centre of excellence in Romania number CEEX 158/2006.
  • Dr. Maria ISAC (researcher in the ICDP Pitesti Maracineni)
    Experience in screening tests for resistance to PPV, serological and molecular techniques.
  • Ing.T. NEAGU
    Has experience on serological and molecular techniques for PPV detection.

Material resources

USAMV possesses facilities for molecular biology lab. (PCR machines, electrophoresis; ELISA), type 2 greenhouse and nursery fields.
